O’Keefe is the former founder of WiredAlumni.com, Inc. (1999) and Research Connect, Inc. (2003), which he sold in 2007 to Technology Alliances, Inc.
WiredAlumni.com was one of the first online networks catering to the college alumni market. From 1999 to 2001 WiredAlumni.com grew to over 180 alumni communities with close to 10,000 registered users. WA implemented many of the early technologies of networking, alumni connections and online communications that have become very popular with today’s social networks.
Research Connect is an online market research portal that connects the investment community with leading research papers. During O’Keefe’s ownership (2003-2007) RC grew to over 30,000 pages and 5,000 daily visitors. With 80 signed independent researchers, Research Connect contained over 7,000 research reports both for sale and for free. Research Connect, Inc. was sold in May 2007 to Technology Alliances, Inc.
From 1996 to 2003 O’Keefe was a financial equity analyst at Thomson/First Call (now Thomson Reuters). At First Call, O’Keefe worked closely with the leading financial media outlets to establish the First Call estimate (EPS) as the leading financial benchmark. A lot of the foundation for the Bizak benchmarks (EPV) came from Tom’s 7 years experience at First Call.
Previous to First Call, O’Keefe had additional financial experience at both Fidelity Investments and the Boston Stock Exchange. In 1995 O’Keefe graduated from Boston College with a dual degree in Economics and Political Science. Originally from Poughkeepsie, NY, O’Keefe is now a resident of Brookline, MA.
